Assistance Dog Training

Assistance Dogs are becoming more and more relevant and are invaluable for enabling people with disabilities to participate in daily activities like grocery shopping. Assistance Dogs are working dogs, not pets, and require specialised training to be able to accompany their handlers in – almost – all situations.

Whether you're registering with one of the many organisations like mindDog Australia or Assistance Paws Australia, or choosing to owner-train your dog without the support of an organisation, I can support you in preparing your dog for the Public Access Test (PAT) so you can take your dog to supermarkets, cafés, the cinema or theatre, on public transoirt and flights or doctor's appointments.

I offer initial assessments for existing dogs to determine their suitability as Assistance Dogs, and for prospective dog owners, I can guide you through choosing the right breed for your lifestyle, finding reputable breeders, selecting your puppy (following a temperament test), and beginning training (please note that this process might take time).
